Where to eat and what to do in downtown St. Cloud

Here are some downtown restaurant options for those of you who get in early on Thursday:

You are welcome to pay the $75 registration fee during the conference, but if you are interested in registering before you arrive, please send a check made out to St. Cloud State University with “NPCEBL 2014” in the memo line to the following address:

Finally, I have confirmed with the Le St. Germain Suites Hotel (320-654-1661) that there are still plenty of rooms available at the conference rate of $89 per night, though you should plan to make your reservation by March 18. Please let them know that you are participating in the Northern Plains Conference when you call. The hotel is just under a mile from the campus conference site, and the walk between the two locations is a safe and easy one.

Updated conference information

On April 4-5, 2014, St. Cloud State University will host the twenty-second annual Northern Plains Conference on Early British Literature in St. Cloud, Minnesota. The organizers invite papers on literary-critical, theoretical, and pedagogical subjects concerning texts written in Britain from the Middle Ages through the early nineteenth century. This conference has traditionally served as a venue for encouraging collaboration and the sharing of works in progress. Professor Rebecca Krug of the University of Minnesota will give the keynote address.

Please send a 250-word abstract for a twenty-minute paper to Glenn Davis (gmdavis at stcloudstate dot edu) by February 21, 2014. (Please note the updated deadline.) Panel proposals are also welcome.

Registration is $75 and includes all meals from breakfast on Friday through lunch on Saturday. We have reserved a block of rooms for $89/night at the Le St. Germain Suite Hotel (www.lestgermainsuitehotel.com), which is in walking distance to campus. Please let the hotel staff know that you are participating in the conference when you make your reservation.
